Grab-bag of stuff (illustrated)

Okay! Having found the cable for my camera, so that I could get pictures off of it, I can maybe start catching up with posting some things... This post is the "miscellaneous grab-bag" portion of our show...

Cats!

Emily, being her usual lonnnnnnnng self. (A bit fuzzy; my camera takes sharper pics when I have the flash on, but this was the best pic of the bunch showing her extreme long-ness.)

Morgan, perching on top of the highest kitchen cabinet. (To which she must jump from the kitchen counter, which is still an impressive leap.) She actually doesn't do this very often, that I know of. She did it the first day we brought her into the apt., but to my knowledge, she hadn't done it since, until this occasion. I can't remember at this point what set her off to make her go up there.

Bonsai!

Just to prove to everyone that it's been 6 months and I *still* haven't killed it! Woo! Also, to show that it's not only getting new growth, but it made a couple of attempts to sprout some new shoots from way down low on the trunk. Which I pinched off, the way you're supposed to, after taking this pic.

Spastic Spiderweb!

At jenlev's suggestion, I tried to take a pic of the really spastic spider-web that I mentioned in my previous entry. First I tried it with the flash on, but that totally didn't work. So this is with the flash off, which is why it's so yellow. I think you might have to click through to the highest-resolution shot to really see the web at all, and what you can see best is junk caught in the web, rather than the web itself (but that isn't all bug coccoons; I'm not really sure what all that schmutz is). Maybe if my camera were as good as jenlev's, I'd've had more luck. *shrug*

(Note: I like the new interface for posting an image from the scrapbook. But I don't like that I couldn't figure out how to adjust the size of what got posted -- I'd like an option so that it would display thumbnails, basically.)

Still to come! A Day Trip to Georges Island (last weekend), and Tall Ships at Newport RI!

That is one impressive leap for a cat! I'd be scared of falling back if I didn't make it!

Yeah, you would think! I'm pretty sure that's at least a 4-foot jump, maybe 5 feet on the diagonal. She's an impressively springy little thing, given that she's like 11 years old now.

The thing that makes me really crazy with her is -- she can totally make the jump from the floor to the counter, and even from the counter up to there. But, what she jumps up onto most often is my bed, which obviously is much shorter off the ground -- and she has developed this completely lazy habit of leaping at the side of the bed and under-shooting by a bit and then hauling herself all the way up with her claws on my comforter... to the detriment of my comforter, obviously. And I'm like... CAT! I happen to KNOW that you can do that jump cleanly, because you certainly don't undershoot when jumping up on the counter! What gives? Lazy-ass cat...
